HTS 013 Introduction to Textile/Surface Design
T-shirts, scarves, drapery, sheets, and gift wrap are just a few of the products that need textile/surface designers. In this course, you'll learn how to use color, paint, collage, mixed media, and digital photography to create original pattern designs for fashion and interiors. HTS 105 Creative Fabric Painting
Create original designs for tote bags, t-shirts, jeans, belts, shoes, etc. Experiment with mixing color and learn professional techniques to develop a design, transfer it, and paint it directly on fabric using various fabric paints, stamps, stencils, image transfers, and other materials to create unique and innovative fashion looks. HTS 152 Sweater Design
In this hands-on course, discover various industry-standard hand-knitting techniques for designing and creating wearable knit garments and accessories. Using color and design inspiration, you'll create and hand-knit a small collection of accessories and swatches. 

HTS 153 Crochet Design Techniques
Crochet bags, trims, and garments are hot runway items, and in this hands-on course you'll explore basic techniques for designing and making bags, hats, and other accessories. Learn how to crochet with beads and unusual fibers and how to make textural and free-form crochet.

HTS 154 Screenprinting T-Shirts
Learn to create your own screenprinted designs and transfer them from paper to screen to shirt, using basic and experimental screenprinting techniques. You'll conceive a design, prepare a screen, mix pigments, and screenprint on T-shirts in a traditional screen-printing studio environment. Gallery

HTS 163 Designing Your Space: Home Decor
Learn the fundamentals of customizing your own personal environment. Students will learn the basics of professional textile and surface design techniques to design interior items, including a rug, throw-pillow, frames, wall art and more! Students will present their design collection in a final presentation that may be used for portfolio submissions.

HTS 164 Surface Design with an "Urban-Edge"
Students will explore non-traditional approaches to textile and surface design using techniques that evolved from, or create the effects of urban-based design. Innovation is key as students explore materials and techniques inspired by graffiti, typography, stenciling, deconstruction and reconstruction. The perfect accompaniment to the Urbanwear fashion Design course, students can create fabrics and effects to apply to today's edgiest fashion pieces.

HTS 166 Print, Pattern, and Portfolio Presentation
Design prints for your fashion collection. Learn the basic techniques of textile/surface design by combining color, pattern and texture to create fabrics that are unique! Through trend and visual research, you will explore ways to implement cutting edge and classic inspirations and then create your own samples.

HTS 172 Create Textile Patterns Using Adobe Photoshop
Students will learn how to design for Textile/Surface Design using Adobe Photoshop.  Projects focus on creating design patterns appropriate for the textile and surface design industries and various design layouts which they will digitally print on plain paper, peel and stick paper, transfer paper or fabric papers. Selected designs from each student will be printed on fabric.  Samples created in this class can be applied to both Fashion Design and Textile Design portfolio pieces.
