Direct Stafford Loan Counseling Sessions

EXIT COUNSELING

If you are a Direct Stafford Loan Borrower and are graduating this Spring 2015 semester, you are leaving FIT, or you have gone below 6 credits in your degree program, you are required to complete an Exit Counseling Session. If you were unable to attend one of the in-person session held by  Financial Aid Services you may still complete this requirement at StudentLoans.gov

NOTE: Beginning May 10, you will be asked to create an FSA ID a username and password that students, parents and borrowers must use to log in to certain U.S. Department of Education websites (such as StudentLoans.gov and www.nslds.ed.gov).  Go to fsaid.ed.gov to edit your FSA ID..

If are unable to attend one of these sessions you may complete your exit counseling requirement online anytime at StudentLoans.gov . This site also contains all of your federal loan information, though recent loan certifications may not yet be on this site.

ENTRANCE COUNSELING

All students who are receiving Direct Stafford Loans for the first time at FIT must complete an Entrance Counseling Session before their loan funds can be disbursed.  If you were unable to attend the sessions provided at the beginning of the semester, you may still complete your requirement online at StudentLoans.gov.

It will take about 20-30 minutes to complete the session. We will receive confirmation in approximately 3 - 4 days.

You may call (212) 217-3560, email DL@fitnyc.edu or you may stop by Financial Aid Services at Room A212-A if you have any questions.
