Technical Requirements for Accessing FIT Network

 The Information Technology Department would like to welcome you to the FIT residence halls. Below, is the system requirement your computer must meet in order to connect to our network. Kindly review the information prior to arriving on campus to ensure your ability to connect to  the internet.

Systems Requirements:
Minimum Requirements for Apple/Macintosh users:
• Macintosh Operating System, patched with the latest update from Apple
• Up-to-date Virus Protection Software (not required for iPads/IOS devices)

Minimum Requirements for PC users:
• Microsoft Windows Operating System, patched with latest updates from Microsoft
• Up-to-date Virus Protection Software

Getting ready for FIT:

One Simple Step: Scan Your Computer
To ensure you will meet the minimum requirements please scan your computer prior to arriving to FIT.

If your computer passes the scan and meets the requirements then it is ready for FIT network
If your computer fails the scan, simply review the System Requirements section above and update the components listed. Perform the scan again to ensure compliance.

When You Arrive At FIT:
Q. What wireless network do I connect to,  FITDORM 27 or FITDORM31 ?
A. If you are in any of the dorms on 27th St., including Alumni or Nagler,  you will connect  to FITDORM27. If you are in Kaufman Hall located on 31st St. you will connect to FITDORM31
Q. What do I do if I get the message “Login Failed: Authentication Failure” ?
A. Try re-entering your credentials again.  Your User Name is:  first_last    Your password is:  Summer2014 (S is uppercase, the other letters are lowercase)

How do I connect my computer via an Ethernet cable ?

If you want to use the wired connection in your room, you will need an Ethernet cable. You can pick one in the FIT Residential Life office in Alumni Hall on 27th St. or Kaufmann Hall on 31st.

IT for FIT Support for Summer Resident Interns:
IT for FIT will ensure that access to the FIT wireless and wired network is possible from every occupied room. IT for FIT will ONLY troubleshoot connection issues.   You must call to speak with a Help Desk representative at 212-217-4357 and identify yourself as a Summer Resident. Intern.
