This symposium, the first of its kind at FIT, was designed in response to requests from students who were seeking a forum that would address conditions for women today---particularly within the context of careers in the fields for which they are being educated at FIT. About 85 percent of our students are women. They know that despite important gains in past decades, women continue to lag both in the workplace and in many aspects of our culture.
The day begins at 8:30 am with Opening Remarks by Dr. Joyce F. Brown, President, followed by keynote speaker Jessica Weber, of Jessica Weber Design. Colleagues from the FIT community and related industries will make in-person and video presentations, in 10-20 minute segments, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Fred P. Pomerantz Art and Design Center.
Ms. Jessica Weber has extensive experience in creating branding, marketing, and development strategies for highly effective design communications. She lectures frequently and has served on numerous juries for visual arts competitions. Ms. Weber is a member of the Century Association, ArtTable, Women in Development, the Art Directors Club of New York, the Society of Publication Designers, the Society of Illustrators, and is an alumna of both New York University and Parsons the New School for Design.
