Are We on the Same Cloud?

“Are We On the Same Cloud? Publishers…Faculty…Service Providers…Educational Futurists…Are they all on the “same Cloud”? Do we have as many perspectives (teaching improvements, professional development, science-based pedagogy democratization, new teaching paradigm, etc.) on what the Cloud can do for education as we have stakeholders. Where do those points of view differ or even conflict? Where do they align? Come to this panel to gain a 360 degree understanding of the various advantages, opportunities and challenges that the Cloud could mean for Higher Ed…as well as the different meanings (or Clouds) that this new technology could have.”

Panelist will include:

Mark Burke – CEO viaEdTechnologies (via Adobe Connect) - Mark is the founder of viaEdTechnologies, LLC, located in Bloomsburg, PA. Mark's ventures include founding one of the nation’s first, fully online music academies, Music Within Me (www.Music-Within-Me.com). Music Within Me provides online beginning instrumental and general music courses for a range of students and learning environments

Jay Chakrapani – Vice President Digital Products McGraw Hill Higher Ed.  Jay leads a team to successfully conceptualize, develop and manage breakthrough digital products for the higher education market.

Andrew Cohen – CEO Brain Scape. Andrew is an instructional designer and cognitive scientist committed to bringing artificial intelligence into education. In 2008, he founded Brainscape, whose initial product is an adaptive web & mobile learning platform based on the concept of "flashcards on steroids."

Nicholas Provenzano – “The Nerdy Teacher” (via Adobe Connect). Nicholas is a high school English teacher and technology curriculum specialist for Grosse Pointe Public Schools. He writes about educational and technology issues on his blog, TheNerdyTeacher.com and for Edutopia.org.

Kristen Swanson – EdCamp Philly.  Kristen is a consultant for Authentic Education currently assigned to the iZone project. In the past she has taught at the elementary level, served as a regional consultant for Response to Intervention, and worked as an educational technology director for a public school district in Pennsylvania.
