Funding Scholarships For ITM Majors

FIT's department of International Trade & Marketing (ITM) is committed to raising funds for scholarships and activities that enhance students' education and employability. With the assistance of its Advisory Board and its International Students Alumni Society (ITAS), the department organizes fundraising events to endow permanent scholarships and career development activities. All or a portion of the donations to these funds are tax deductible. Proceeds are administered by the Educational Foundation for the Fashion Industries (EFFI).

Permanent Scholarships
ITM raises funds to endow two types of permanent (in perpetuity) scholarships:

Full-Time Scholarship: A gift or a fund of $100,000 endows an in-perpetuity scholarship that pays the tuition of a full-time New York resident or, half the tuition of a full-time, non-resident of New York, for one year. Donor(s) select the scholarship's name and recipients' criteria with the consent of the department. The department administers the selection of a recipient every year following the criteria established by the donor.

Part-Time Scholarship: A gift or a fund of $50,000 endows an in-perpetuity scholarship that pays the half of the annual tuition of a full-time New York resident or, twenty-five percent of a on-resident of New York, for one year. The donor or the funding group selects the scholarship's name and recipients' criteria. Donor(s) select the scholarship's name and recipients' criteria with the consent of the department. The department administers the selection of a recipient every year following the criteria established by the donor.

Practicum Scholarships
Every year ITM conducts an international field trip to provide students with an opportunity to observe international trade in action. In recent years the ITM Practicum has traveled to Portugal, Costa Rica, and Brazil, and students have visited textile and apparel factories, trade organizations, chambers of commerce, government agencies, consumer groups, and educational institutions.

A $5,000 donation funds the travel and tuition costs of a student who, otherwise, could not afford this unique educational experience to travel abroad and observe life, commerce, and culture in other countries. The department administers the selection of a recipient following the criteria established by the donor. Donors are invited to review students' applications.

To make a donation, organize a fund drive, and/or participate in current fundraising efforts, please contact the ITM Department Chair, Professor Christine Pomeranz at (212) 217-3323 or by email at Christine_Pomeranz@FITnyc.edu
