FIT Students Hold Day of Community Service
FIT students will cap the college’s four days of Homecoming events with a day of community service – working with such organizations as Older Adults Technology Services (OATS), the Partnership for the Homeless, Baby Buggy, Visiting Neighbors, the Penn South Center for Seniors, and KEEN, a provider of recreational opportunities for disabled children and young adults.
Sunday, November 4
11 am: Welcome by Erik Kneubuehl, FIT assistant vice president and
dean of Student Services, in Breezeway between Dubinsky Center and Business and Liberal Arts Center
11:30 am: 300 student volunteers for community services will begin activities in FIT’s John E. Reeves Great Hall, 28th St. and Seventh Ave.
- Collecting items for Baby Buggy
- Creating tote bags for Haiti relief
- Decorating messenger bags for the Partnership for the Homeless
- Making cards for homebound seniors to be delivered that day with the assistance of Visiting Neighbors
- Making cards for seniors in the Penn South Center for Seniors
Stanton Fitness Center to partner with a disabled athlete from KEEN for an afternoon of recreation
