Tigers Sweep Rockland for Season’s 11th Victory

The FIT Tigers played host to Rockland CC and came out 3-0 winners with set scores of 25-16, 25-20, 25-13.  The win puts the team at 11-2 overall and is the team’s 7th straight win.  The night also marked Breast Cancer Awareness night, as the team sported self-designed pink tie-dyed t-shirts with the breast cancer awareness ribbon and the team’s slogan, “Refuse to Lose”.  The night proved to be a success on all levels.

Leading the way for FIT was Megan Houff with 19 points on 12 kills, 4 blocks and 3 aces.  Rachel Carey followed with 13 points on 13 kills.  Sarah Grochowski led the team with 23 digs and Lauren Curley added a team high 32 assists.  Breanna Dolan had a strong game, adding 6 kills, 5 digs, and a block assist.

“I feel like the team is peaking at the right time of the season,” said Coach Thomas.  “Tonight we played with a few distractions and had to change things on the fly.  Hitters adjusted mid-game to sets that were not ideal, and the passing got better as the game went along.”
