FIT Receives Accreditation Status from Middle States Commission on Higher Education
FIT first received accreditation from the commission in 1957. FIT began its latest process of re-accreditation in November 2007. Under the guidance of Dr. Joyce F. Brown, president of FIT, the college engaged in a vigorous self-study review to document the development and implementation of organized and sustainable assessment procedures, and to gather evidence to improve its teaching, learning, and institutional effectiveness.
During the five-year process, FIT added its online offering of a BS degree in International Trade and Marketing to its self-study report and reclassified FIT’s collaborative program with Politecnico di Milano in Milan, Italy, as one of the school’s additional international instructional sites.
“I am delighted that FIT received the best possible action that the commission could take,” said Dr. Brown. “This could not have been achieved without the hard work and commitment of the entire college community.” FIT will begin its next review report to maintain its accreditation status from the commission in 2017. The full evaluation will be completed by 2022.
