You may not apply directly to the bachelorís degree program. High school students should apply to a two-year Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree program and after completing that degree apply to the two-year bachelorís program.
If you have an AAS from FIT
You may apply to the bachelorís degree program. Depending on your major, you may have to complete certain prerequisite or equivalent courses before you apply. Students not in an Art and Design field must have: 6 hours of art history, Introduction to Fashion Merchandising, 9 hours of life drawing, 9 hours of design history, and 6 hours of digital drawing in Adobe Creative Suite or any other approved digital courses.
If you have credits or a degree from another college
You may apply to the two-year BFA program in Fabric Styling as a transfer student if you meet one of the following criteria by the time you enroll at FIT:
- you will have an earned associateís degree from an accredited college and your credits include: 24 hours of liberal arts courses, including 6 credits of art history, 9 credits of life drawing, 9 credits of design history, and 6 credits of digital drawing.
- you will have earned at least 60 credits towards a bachelorís degree at a 4-year institution with credit in the following areas prior to enrolling in our program: 24 credits of liberal arts courses, including 6 credits of art history, 9 credits of life drawing, 9 credits of design history, and 6 credits of digital drawing (Photoshop/Illustrator: Adobe Creative Suite).
*Most Associateís degree programs in art and design related fields meet the course distribution requirement for admission. FITís admissions office can assist you if you have any questions.
