Tigers Undefeated on First Day of CCRI Tournament

By Carrie Thomas

(Lincoln, RI)  The FIT volleyball team never dropped a set as they opened up pool play by dispensing of Holyoke Community College 25-4,  25-5. Their next match they beat a tough Community College of Rhode Island 25-23, 25-22. In the final match of the day the Tigers easily defeated New Hampshire Technical Institute 25-12, 25-13.

"We arrived very late to our hotel and didn't get a lot of sleep. The girls stepped it up and played great all day.  CCRI gave us quite a run. We were down 8 pts at one point in the 2nd set and fought hard until the end.  Our Tigers are scrappy little fighters that never say die. They keep their heads held high and fight until the very end.  That's the sign of a true driven athlete," stated Head Coach Carrie Thomas.

Megan Houff led the offensive attack for the day tallying 27 kills. Anna Buckley dished out 54 set assists.  Rachel Carey and Vivian Htam chipped in with 10 and 12 kills respectively.  Alison Tyler defended the back court with  24 digs. Michelle Vainblat pitched in with 13 digs.
