FIT Returns to Action at Delhi

by David Hildebrand

With the end of the season approaching, FIT Swimming returned to competition at Delhi Saturday.  Freshmen Emily Mance and Katie vanBeek each swam impressive times coming out of the holiday break.  Mance finished fourth in 100 backstroke with a time of 1:14.57 before cruising to a win in the 400 IM.  Her time of 5:38.59 places her fifth all-time at FIT.  VanBeek opened the meet with a 2:31.77 in the 200 freestyle, good enough for silver.  She followed up with a season best 1:04.27 in the 100 freestyle, placing third and moving her up to eighth all-time at FIT.  VanBeek concluded the meet just moments later with a gutsy 200 breastroke, finishing fourth in 3:18.56, situating her sixth all-time at FIT.

The team next travels to Monroe in Rochester, NY for the annual Regional Championships February 14-16.
