by Maria Paolillo

(Hackensack, NJ) The FIT Lady Tigers fought through the wind and rain in Hackensack, New Jersey to beat out the heated competition. With much less than ideal conditions the Tigers still continued to show what they are made of and make improvements in the right direction. Due to inclement weather, the meet was canceled halfway through. The remaining events in the meet were not completed.

In the 800 meter run, Hannah Duncan ran a time of 2:46 to finish in 4th place in her heat and 23rd overall. Shannen Gallardo was also in the same heat, finishing 5th and placing 26th with a time of 2:58. Kelsey Waters was in a separate heat and finished 25th overall with a mark of 2:49.

Shayna Fairclough finished 2nd in her heat of the 400 meter dash to place 10th in the field in a time of 1:07.66.

In the 1500 meter run, Duncan and Gallardo were at it again finishing 3rd and 4th respectively in their heat and 23rd and 25th overall. They ran to conditions and finish in 5:44 and 5:46.

Sidnee Compere competed in the 100 meter hurdles for the first time this season. She placed 5th overall in a time of 18.58.

For the field events, Meredith Gill got a chance to compete in her rightful event on Saturday by competing in the Hammer Throw. She threw 17.34 meters, which was good for 10th place.

The Lady Tigers put in another round of solid efforts this week and proved that their training is paying off for them. This is only the beginning for these ladies! Keep a look out as the team travels to Galloway, New Jersey next Saturday to compete in the Osprey Open at Stockton College.
