Megan Houff named First Team All American

(New York, NY) FIT Tigers’ middle blocker and tri-captain, Megan Houff from Longmeadow, MA, has been named to the 2013 NJCAA Division III Volleyball All American First team. Houff had many achievements that led up to this outstanding honor. She was named Region 15 Player of the Year for the second year in a row as well as being named to the All Region First Team. Megan paced the Tigers to a Region 15 title to earn a berth in the NJCAA National Volleyball Tournament in Rochester, MN , where Megan was named to the All Tournament team on both occasions. She was also named to the 2013 Dragon City Invite All Tournament Team. In Week 7 she was named NJCAA Division III Player of the Week. Read More

Tigers Win First Round Playoff Match as Buckley Records 1000th Set Assist

(New York, NY). The FIT Tigers volleyball team rolled over Bergen CC in three straight sets 25-6, 25-10, 25-15. The Tigers were led offensively by Megan Houff with 15 kills and 4 blocks. Anna Buckley spread out 31 set assists. Rachel Carey tallied up 6 kills and 12 digs. Vivian Htam pounded out 7 kills. Miranda Mitchell added 4 kills and 12 digs. Alison Tyler picked up 16 digs. Tigers Place Second in Mustang Invitational

(New Rochelle, NY) The FIT Tigers placed second in the Monroe College Invitational going 3-1 for the weekend. The Tigers played some tough Division II schools, being the only Division III school in the tournament. On the first day of volleyball action, the Tigers split their matches, winning the first match versus Nassau 3-0. In the afternoon match up they faced a tough offensive team from Monroe College losing 0-3. On the closing day, the Tigers put away Potomac State of West Virginia 3-0 and battled the College of Southern Maryland to five sets to pull out the 3-2 win. Read More

FIT Dominates CCRI Tournament to Claim Championship

The Tigers finished up pool play dispensing of Gennessee CC 2-0 and Nassau CC 2-1. They were the only undefeated team in the tournament. FIT then had to play Gennessee CC for the championship title where they claimed their victory 2-1 (22-25, 25-21, 15-13). Anna Buckley dished out 65 set assists on the day. Megan Houff led the offensive threat with 26 kills. Rachel Carey and Vivian Htam pounded out 12 and 10 kills respectively. Alison Tyler defended the backcourt with 45 digs and Michelle Vainblat closed up the wing with 34 digs. Read More

Tigers Volleyball Split at Northampton CC

(Bethlehem, PA) The FIT Tigers met a tough Northampton CC team on the road in Bethlehem, PA. “It was almost like looking in a mirror. Both teams on the floor ran the same type of offense—quick and effective. The biggest difference was that their defense beat us. We were a little bit late in making our plays.
