Real Internship Experience: RTKL

RTKL Vice President Phillips Engelke heads up the firm's ID8 Studio, which creates experiential environments. "We're in a small industry that incorporates a variety of disciplines including architecture, engineering, interior design, and urban design. There's an equally small group of individuals who have the multifaceted skill set we require." FIT intern Melody Hung was a perfect fit.

"I knew I wanted to use the creative skills I learned earning my FIT Display and Exhibit and Exhibition Design degrees to work with a dynamic multinational company. The professionals at the Internship Center not only helped me secure my internship at RTKL, they also worked with me to develop the negotiation skills I needed when the firm offered me a permanent position." -- Melody Hung, MA Exhibition Design, '06

"Melody was well suited to our team here: She had already mastered the skills needed for work on a variety of things relating to our projects. FIT master's degree candidates are particularly useful for us because we don't have to do as much on-the-job training. They're just better prepared." -- Phillips Engelke, Vice President, RTKL
