FIT Holds Forum on Economic Growth in India

The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York City hosted a conference on October 22 exploring the factors influencing India’s economic expansion. Presented by FIT’s Department of International Trade and Marketing (ITM), the forum included panel discussions on India’s growth opportunities, the economic effect of global warming, and the economic effects of the country’s developing fashion, retail, and entertainment industries.

The keynote speakers were Ravilochan Pola, president and CEO of Kotak Mahindra, Inc., and Sandy Starkman, a fashion and home furnishings designer and board member of the Museum of Women’s Art in New Delhi, India. Participants included top executives from finance, ecology, real estate, filmmaking, and advertising.

Fashion and home furnishings designer Sandy Starkman spoke about the high quality of the arts in India.

ITM offers a Bachelor of Science degree in International Trade and Marketing for the Fashion Industries and prepares students for entry level management positions in international trade and global fashion companies. Currently in its twelfth year, the program has 200 students and more than 800 graduates.
