Rodriguez joined FIT in 2002 and became a member of the Office of International Programs in 2003. He sought ways to streamline the study abroad application process and created creative technological programs that resulted in increased study abroad enrollment. Rodriguezís responsibilities include coordinating department web communications and study abroad programs, acting as database manager, and assisting with communications and customer service for the Office of International Programs. He communicates with approximately 22 international institutions and coordinates more than 500 online study abroad applications each semester.
Rodriguezís capabilities led to his selection as a Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship Program panelist from a nationwide group of study abroad advisors, faculty, and administrators. In this capacity, he reviewed more than 75 scholarship applications for study abroad funding provided by the U.S. Department of State. Rodriguez speaks Arabic and Spanish in addition to English and taught Arabic for two semesters through FITís Muslim Students Association.
