In the fall 2010 article "Meet Cute," Hue spotlighted Lolita style, one of the stranger fashion-related subcultures to come out of Japan in recent years. For the feature, FIT students past and present came together one sunny day at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden to create a manga-style fashion spread and to discuss the movement's aesthetic and ethos to outsiders.

Presented here are a video interview with "punk Lolita" Christine de la Rosa, Fashion Design - Illustration '13, who talks about why she became interested in the style, why it's helped her embrace her femininity, and why Lolitas love Betsey Johnson; and a behind-the-scenes slideshow, photographed by Jennifer Wiese, a continuing education student at FIT.
