One-Year AAS Degree
The One-Year AAS degree program is for transfer students who have satisfied the FIT AAS liberal arts requirements. In this program, you will complete an accelerated two semesters of study ranging from 30-1/2 to 41 credits at FIT. The One-Year AAS degree program is available in Accessories Design, Advertising and Marketing Communications, Communication Design, Fashion Merchandising Management, Fashion Design, Jewelry Design, Textile Development and Marketing, and Textile/Surface Design. The One-Year AAS degree program does not have a separate application. The Admissions Committee will automatically place you in the one-year program if you are found eligible on the basis of the criteria stated below:
- Graduation from a four-year regionally accredited institution or completion of at least 30 transferable credits at a regionally accredited college, including a minimum of 24 credits that are equivalent to FIT's liberal arts requirements:
- Three credits of English composition
- Three credits of literature or speech
- Three credits of science
- Three credits of math
- 12 credits of humanities/social sciences
- One course of physical education
- For Jewelry Design applicants only: graduation from an accredited BFA program, or completion of 24 credits of liberal arts that are equivalent to the FIT AAS Jewelry Design requirements, including six credits of art history and courses in general drawing, sculpture, and basic design
- A strong portfolio evaluation for Art and Design applicants from the Accessories Design, Communication Design, Fashion Design, Jewelry Design, or Textile/Surface Design faculty. See How do I Prepare a Portfolio?
