We offer teaching strategies and resources that help faculty cultivate engaging learning environments.  We also offer curriculum development and delivery support. In addition to the resources available on this page, faculty are welcome to schedule one-to-one consultations to discuss curriculum development and teaching practices.

Teaching Resources and Strategies

Plan and deliver an organized and thoughtful learning experience by considering these teaching basics and more comprehensive strategies for engaging students, designing assignments, and assessing student performance.

The information provided in the videos, guides, and links below offer great introductions to creating an inclusive classroom environment. These strategies are just good teaching practices that allow for all students to participate.

Key goals  to achieve through your pedagogy include ensuring:

  • All students have the opportunity to actively participate.
  • All students can make a personal connection to the course material.
  • All students have time to think.
  • All students can pose ideas and construct their knowledge of the course content.
  • All students are explicitly welcomed into the intellectual discussion of the course content.

Curriculum Development Resources

Connect with resources for developing new curriculum and revising courses.

A course of study is a blue print for what a course will cover in order for students to meet the learning outcomes. The Office for Curriculum and the College-wide Curriculum Committee have created resources to guide faculty preparing new courses.

>> College-wide Curriculum Committee Guidance

>> Guidelines for Writing a Course of Study

>> Developing a Course of Study and the Approval Process

>> Curriculum Calendar - Critical Dates and Deadlines

>> Schedule a Meeting with Brian Fallon to Discuss Your Course of Study

The Office of Online Learning works with faculty to develop online courses.

>> Getting Started with Teaching Online

The Office of Academic and Administrative Assessment offers advice on creating course-level student learning outcomes (SLOs). SLOs anchor all aspects of course design by determining what students will be able to do upon completing the course. This means they guide the what's covered in the units and inform the evaluation methods used to assess if students have met the outcomes.
