Commencement 2024 Communications Archive—Undergraduate Ceremonies

An archive of emails sent to students graduating with an associate's or bachelor's degree who plan to participate in the spring 2024 commencement ceremonies.

We are happy to inform you that today's 4:30 ceremony will be held with no delays. A storm earlier caused a small disruption, but we have made up the time and are back on schedule.

Due to a rain delay earlier today, the doors for the 1:15 ceremony will now open at 12:30 pm to allow for the first ceremony's attendees to exit. Ceremony time remains at 1:15 pm.

As predicted, the storm has passed the Central Park venue. At 10:30, we will open the doors. Warning: the grounds are very wet. Please take precautions when entering.

Due to the prediction of lightning and hard rain in the next 30 minutes, out of an abundance of caution, today's 10 am ceremony is being delayed until 11 am. Doors will open at 10:30 am.

For your safety, the venue has recommended those who are already onsite shelter in the covered area near Bethesda Fountain in Central Park.

Those who have yet to arrive, please delay your arrival.

Congratulations, graduate! It's time to celebrate!

We are eager to see you and celebrate your achievements at FIT’s 2024 Commencement this Wednesday and Thursday at Central Park.

Here are some quick tips, reminders, and links for your big day.

The event is at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park. Enter at Fifth Avenue at 69th Street; the path at this entrance leads directly to the venue.

Don't forget your cap and gown: They're required. Monday, May 20, is the last day to pick up your regalia at the FIT Campus Store. No regalia wil be sold at the ceremony.

Your ticket and your guests' tickets were emailed to your FIT email address; the sender is See Tickets. Note: Please confirm your ceremony date/time on your ticket is correct; find the schedule here. If you haven't received your ticket, email [email protected].

You and your guests should arrive one hour before your ceremony; this helps ensure you have time to get through security and that your guests find seating together, which is first come, first seated.

Stop by the celebration area to pick up refreshments and gifts. Please allow yourself time to visit them before your ceremony begins, or you can order commemorative merchandise ahead of time

The ceremonies will be livestreamed here and on the commencement website. The stream will also provide live captioning.

Commencement involves a good deal of standing and walking, sometimes on uneven ground. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and discourage high heels.

Remember, at this event you will be held to the same expectations and standards outlined in the Code of Student Conduct. Any individuals who violate these policies will be asked to leave the ceremony.

If you need more specifics, you can find them on the undergraduate student information page

We planned to host this event tomorrow in the Breezeway, but as a result of permit regulations we’re unable to move forward with the event there. With limited space on campus that can sustain this type of event, the new date and location on the Dubinsky Eighth Floor was our only option.

Join us for a day of play, some delicious brunch treats, mocktails, a photo booth, a ball pit, and so much more!

NOTE:

  • If you have previously RSVP’ed and you can still make it, that's amazing! Your RSVP is still recorded.
  • If you have not RSVP’ed and you plan on attending, please RSVP.
  • If you are no longer able to attend, please update your RSVP to NO.

Sincerely,

I am very pleased to announce the dates for the 2024 undergraduate and graduate commencement exercises next spring.

Similar to last year, FIT will hold six undergraduate ceremonies at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park, on Wednesday and Thursday, May 22 and 23, 2024.

Once again, we will be able to hold a Family Celebration event before and after each ceremony so all can enjoy refreshments, take photos at our step and repeat, and partake of special commencement activities and gifts.

This year we will be able to group students by major/degree program in each of the six commencement sessions over the two days which will enable you to participate with your classmates for the official ceremony. Further details will be shared early in the spring semester.

The conferral of degrees and a hooding ceremony for the master’s degree candidates of the School of Graduate Studies will take place at 6 pm on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, in the Morris W. and Fannie B. Haft Theater at FIT.

You can expect regular commencement updates, with details and important deadlines to register for graduation, order graduation regalia, and make guest ticket reservations. You are encouraged to check the commencement webpage regularly for additional information and updates. Find it at fitnyc.edu/commencement.
