Fall and Spring Programs
Precollege classes and workshops for high school students define participation by grade, not age. If you're in grade 9, 10, 11, or 12 at the time of registration, you qualify!
Summer Programs
Precollege classes and workshops for high school students define participation by grade, not age.
If you are in grade 9, 10, 11, or 12 as of September of the year you are enrolling, you qualify for the high school summer programs. You may also join our summer program if you are graduating from high school in May or June immediately preceding the summer semester.
If you'll be in grade 7, 8, or 9 as of September, you'll qualify for the middle school Precollege workshops. 9th grade students and their families have the option of choosing either program, based on the child's maturity and skill level.
Note: When choosing a class for your child, please note the grade ranges of our programs noted above. There may be some overlap, for 9th graders who could potentially fit into either category. We recommend considering your child's age, grade level and maturity when selecting a program.
Requirements
Precollege enrollment is based on a first-come, first-serve basis. No special recommendations or portfolio reviews are required to join our programs. All of our courses are beginner-level courses unless stated otherwise in our course descriptions.
Know Before You Enroll
- All classes are graded and official transcripts are generated to use at your discretion.
- Students and parents must join the Precollege Orientation before arriving for the first day of class.
- Lunch plans are up to the discretion of each family, but food service is available on-campus at the FIT Dining Hall. (Please note food services might be limited in the summer)
International Students
FIT welcomes international students in its Precollege Programs, but please note that housing is not provided with our programs. FIT offers several noncredit Precollege Program courses appropriate for international students who wish to engage in a short course of study while visiting the United States for tourism, either on a B-2 tourist visa or as part of the visa waiver program. Federal immigration requirements limit visitors to the United States to a course of study that meets less than 18 hours per week.
