Frequently Asked Questions

Can I have an overtally?

If you are inquiring about a section that is full, note that the History of Art Department has a no-overtally policy, without any exception. Please add yourself to the waitlist and continue to check enrollment through the first week of classes.

I’d like a transfer credit. How can I get it? 

Please start by asking the Registrar. After asking the Registrar, if you would like a second opinion, please email the History of Art chairperson with the course description and syllabus of the course you took elsewhere. For something to transfer as an existing FIT HA course, there needs to be equivalence (not just overlap) and you need to have earned a C or above in a 3-credit course. Please include your FIT ID number with the request.

How can I get a pre-req/registration override?

Please contact the professor of the course to request their permission. If they approve, they should inform the chairperson of their approval. Be sure to include your FIT ID number in all correspondence.

How do I add a class after the Add/Drop period?

If you’d like to add a class after Add/Drop is over, please contact the professor of the section to request their permission. If they approve, they should inform the chairperson of their approval. Be sure to include your FIT ID number in all correspondence.

How do I contact my professor?

The instructor’s name should be listed in the Course Catalog via MyFIT with their email attached, but you can also search for their email in the FIT directory or check their faculty profile page.

I need to withdraw from a class. How do I do that?

Please see the Registrar’s withdrawal guidelines. To withdraw, you should email your professor indicating that you would like to withdraw with a WD, including your course section and FIT ID number with the request.

I’d like to appeal a grade. How do I do that?

If you would like to appeal a grade, you must follow the procedure described on this Registrar's page.
