Policy Statement
The Fashion Institute of Technology (“FIT” or “the college”) is committed to prohibiting
discrimination, whether based on age, citizenship status (except as required to comply
with law),
color, creed, disability, ethnic background, familial status, gender, gender identity,
genetic
information, marital status, military service or veteran status, national origin,
pregnancy
(including childbirth and breastfeeding), race, sex, sexual orientation, transgender
status,
unemployment status, an individual’s relationship or association with a member of
a protected
category, a caregiver, or any other criterion prohibited by applicable federal, state,
or local laws.
FIT is also an equal opportunity employer. The college provides members of the campus
community who believe they have been the subject of discrimination or discriminatory
harassment with mechanisms for seeking redress and strictly prohibits retaliation
against
individuals who participate in that process in good faith. Everyone at FIT is expected
to adhere
to the applicable policies and to report conduct or behavior they believe to be in
violation of this
policy.
