CBA Updates: 6/1/2010 - 12/31/2017

The College and the UCE of FIT negotiated the following increases:

• December 1, 2011 - 1% increase
• December 1, 2012 - 1% increase
• December 1, 2013 - 1% increase
• December 1, 2014 - 1.5% increase
• December 1, 2015 - 2.5% increase
• December 1, 2016 - 3% increase

Key changes to the Collective Bargaining Agreement include: 

17.17.1 - Student Evaluations

Change any reference to scores of 4.5 on evaluations to 4.0. This is a pilot program that will terminate on December 31, 2017 unless extended by the parties.

21.4.5 - Substitution Policy 

The sentence in bold was added to section 21.4.5. 

For the Fall and Spring semesters, a classroom faculty member’s first absences equating to a week’s load (i.e., a maximum of 12 hours for full-time faculty) there shall be no substitutions. The course work shall be made up by the faculty member in accordance with the criteria and methods established for each department by the Dean, the Department Chair and the department members. Each make-up shall be approved by the Department Chair in writing. Full-time faculty shall make up the first twelve (12) hours of absence each semester. Part-time faculty shall make up the first absences equating to one week’s class load up to twelve (12) hours per semester except that part-timers with a three (3) hour class load per week shall make up the first six (6) hours of absence each semester. The department Chair may, after the review and approval of the respective College Dean, provide an exception to the substitution hours limit(s) specified above to the affected faculty member(s). Faculty members who make up the classes hour for hour shall have their sick leave charge restored. For Winter Session, Summer, Summer Session, the number of absences will be two (2) per class without substitutes.

21.9 - Distance Learning

Distance Learning will be replaced with "Online Learning."

21.9.4 Full-time and part time faculty can teach up to three online courses: 1 or 2 courses as part of their day schedule and 1 or 2 courses as part of their evening schedule for a total of 3 online courses.

These sentences will be added to 21.9 Online Learning:

Online courses will be available to students one week before classes begin. Faculty will begin teaching theses courses once classes begin on campus. Faculty will not be expected to engage with students prior to the commencement of classes. Courses outlines, syllabus and requirements would be posted prior to commencement of live programming. 

Course evaluations will be taken for a two week period. This is a pilot program that will terminate on December 31, 2017 unless extended by the parties. 

Health Insurance

Out of pocket costs will increase as follows:

Urgent care visits: $50 (previously $25)

Emergency Room visits: $150 (previously $100)
