International Student Financial Statement
International students requiring an I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant [F-1] Student Status) to apply for a student visa or to transfer F-1 status to FIT must document their ability to meet all educational and living expenses while studying in the United States.
Instructions and specific amounts required to be documented may be found in the 2017 International Student Financial Statement (ISFS). The 2017 ISFS is the only form accepted by FIT for this purpose.
The 2017 ISFS may be downloaded at fitnyc.edu/iss. You should submit the ISFS statement along with a copy of your passport’s biographical page immediately. The I-20 form will be issued within ten days of receipt of the ISFS and the $150 tuition deposit.
Federal regulations require that all international students report to the Office of International Student Advisors within 30 days of the start of the semester. To comply with this requirement, students must attend a mandatory International Student Orientation to be held during the week of New Student Orientation, January 25-27, 2017.
The International Student Orientation’s specific date, time, and location, as well as information on obtaining an F-1 visa and maintenance of status, may be found on the International Student Services website. Failure to attend the International Student Orientation will jeopardize students’ F-1 status in the United States.
Students not requiring an I-20 form issued by FIT must complete the I-20 waiver section on page 4 of the ISFS and submit it to the Office of International Student Advisors to inform FIT of this decision.
