Summer 2025: May 22 to August 2
Summer in the city has many opportunities for exploration and adventure. Any FIT student is welcome to spend summer in the Residence Halls regardless of past residential status or if they are taking summer courses.
Current Residential Students will move from their Spring to Summer Assignment during the Memorial Day Weekend. Students enrolled for summer housing do not need to move out during spring closing.
Students joining us for summer without a spring assignment will be provided a move in date during the week of May 27, 2025 as soon as rooms come available.
Applying for Summer
The summer housing application will open March 1, 2025. Students can access the application via their housing portal. This year, FIT Summer Students will be housed in Kaufman Hall.
Application Tiers
This summer we have developed a tiered application process that better allows our students to choose and customize their summer experience.
Pink Tier
The pink tier provides students with them most options and features during their summer housing. Students who choose the pink tier will choose a single room for the summer on Kaufman floor 14 and will keep that same room as a double for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026. They also are able to leave their belongings in the room between August 2 and move in weekend. Students who choose the pink tier will skip housing selection and are guaranteed their summer room for Fall and Spring semesters and can also pull in any eligible roommate* who can also skip housing selection for the guaranteed space. Finally, the pink tier allows students to arrive anytime during move in weekend for Fall 2025.
Black Tier
The black tier has similar features to pink with a few exceptions. Students will be assigned a double room for summer on Kaufman Floor 15 and keep that same room and roommate for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026. We are happy to accommodate preferences if we are able to and all students are eligible**. They also are able to leave their belongings in the room between August 2 and move in weekend.Students will skip housing selection and are guaranteed their summer room for Fall and Spring semesters. Finally, the black tier allows students to arrive anytime during move in weekend for Fall 2025.
Green Tier
The green tier most closely reflects past summer housing accommodations and practices. Students will be able to select a single or double room on Kaufman Floor 13. Those who choose the green tier will need to fully vacate their rooms on August 2 and move out all their belongings.

* Eligible students are classified as returning students who meet all other housing eligibility criteria as specified in the Residence Agreement and have paid their deposit and applied for Academic Year Housing.
** Eligible students are other FIT students who have chosen the Black Tier and all parties agree to live together. Otherwise, students will be matched based on need and randomization.
