Visiting New York City showrooms and attending major trade shows, you’ll gain real experience in this growing field. Popular shows include NY NOW, New York Home Textiles Market Week, New York Tabletop, High Point Market, International Home & Housewares Show, and Maison & Objet.
The curriculum ensures that you will learn to manage the home products development, from concept to consumer. You’ll understand the connection between trends and the business of home products. You’ll acquire the computer skills and technical expertise required in the industry.
Coursework includes product, materials, and manufacturing, lifestyle dynamics, sourcing, distribution, target marketing, branding, licensing, packaging, and home fragrance.
You’ll collaborate with other students in the Home Products Development major, working in teams, to participate in an industry-sponsored Senior Product Development Competition.
Challenged to develop an innovative product from start to finish, you will present the results to a panel of industry experts and faculty.
You’ll get hands-on experience in intern and shadowing opportunities and have the chance to travel to industry markets.
