The Fabric Styling program brings together the worlds of styling, trend forecasting, and related industries such as product development, branding, image consulting, and art direction.
Stylists are the vital link between concept, design, presentation, and finished product. This program prepares you for a variety of opportunities, including how to launch a small business, in a wide range of fields.

Fabric Styling BFA
This program provides a strong foundation in research, concept development, art direction, styling, and trend forecasting. Targeting specific markets, you’ll learn fundamental design concepts and gain project management skills to create a variety of styling and forecasting projects based on references ranging from historical and cultural trends to the current socio-economic climate. In addition to the core Fabric Styling curriculum, the program emphasizes interdisciplinary learning with courses in art history, fashion history, design, photography, business development, and marketing. A required internship will give you the experience necessary to launch a successful career upon graduation.
To apply for this program you are required to have an AAS, or equivalent college level credits, in an Art & Design program. Learn more about eligibility for this program.
Our Work
Stylists scan for trends and create visual brand and design concepts for a variety of industries. These crucial concepts guide every step that leads to the finished product.

Spot a trend. Make a change … As the vital link in every step from design concept to finished product, stylists not only follow trends but influence them.
Outside the Classroom
Students have interned at Banana Republic, Vogue, Ralph Lauren Home, Marc Jacobs, Elle, and Donna Karan. Graduates work as trend forecasters, product development managers, style editors, wardrobe managers, and display and photo stylists. Industries include publishing, theater, television, product development, and computer-related fields. Some graduates go on to master’s degree programs in fields such as visual culture and costume studies.

Learn From the Best
Rebecca Luke
Rebecca Luke has built a three-decade career spanning production, creative services, styling, costume design, choreography, and visual display. With her background as a personal stylist for retail giants like Nordstrom and Barneys NY, she now has a thriving private image consulting business. She is also a union costume designer for film/TV, collaborating with esteemed directors and A-list actors like Johnny Depp, Toni Collette, and Aubrey Plaza. She co-founded the Sustainable Style Foundation in 2003 and started the As Sustainable As Possible (ASAP) project in 2021, promoting sustainable and ethical choices. A global speaker on sustainable lifestyle and personal branding, Luke holds a BA in Marketing with a focus in clothing and textiles.
Sadia Seymour
Sadia Seymour is the lead instructor for FIT's Fashion Styling certificate as well as an instructor in our Precollege Program. After seven years in production, she transitioned to fashion styling in 1998. With more than 20 years of experience under her belt, Seymour works in commercial print and television advertising, editorial, catalog, e-commerce, runway, bridal, press previews, and is a mannequin expert. Currently, she is the CEO of Behind The Rack, a boutique fashion service company. She received her AAS and BFA in Fashion Design from FIT.
