Orientation FAQs

  • How do I access the Orientation Schedule?
A detailed schedule will be shared via email in early August. Once released students can access the orientation schedule three additional ways:
    • via paper schedule (picked up at check-in or at the Orientation Headquarters located in the Dubinsky Student Center Lobby)

    • by downloading the CORQ app on your device and searching for "Fashion Institute of Technology" (it will not populate if you search as "FIT").  Then locate the schedule for your academic school (i.e. School of Business and Technology, Art and Design, Liberal Arts and Sciences).

    • by visiting FITLink on a desktop/laptop/phones browser at fitnyc.campuslabs.com/engage

  • Is Orientation mandatory?
Orientation is mandatory for all new students; if you have a conflict be sure to attend as many sessions as you can as Orientation is designed to facilitate your transition to FIT smoothly and there will be no makeup options.
  • How long is Orientation?

New Student Orientation is a full two days of programming geared towards our academic and social success while at FIT. Please anticipate staying on campus from 8am to 5 pm each day.

  • How do I know which group number or check-in group color I am in?
Students will be sent an email from [email protected] with their orientation group number and check-in group color.  Group color is based on last name.

  • How do I know who my Orientation Leader (OL) is?
Two (2) Orientation Leaders are assigned to each group number. Check your email for your Orientation group number and OL name. You will be able to meet your OL and exchange contact info during the OL Group Meetup.
  • Is Orientation lunch free? Lunch during Orientation is FREE and you do not need to use your meal plan. You can use your meal plan during all other times of the day.
  • Where do I check in?
Students should check in in the location that corresponds with the first letter of their last name:
  • Where do I get my FIT Student ID/Campus Card?

Residents: If you uploaded your photo in advance you will receive your FIT ID card when you check in at your residence hall for move in.

Commuters: If you uploaded your photo in advance you will receive it on your first day of Orientation.

For students who still need to take an ID photo, you will have the opportunity to take your photo during schedule times at Orientation or during the first week of classes. There is no need to miss any orientation program as your class schedule or physical orientation schedule can temporarily get you access to non-residential campus buildings.

  • How do I access the Pre-Orientation Module?
    • Open a new browser window, go to FITLink

    • Click “Sign In” in the top right corner

    • You will be redirected to the FIT “Sign in to your account” screen, enter your FIT username (everything before the @ symbol) and your unique FIT password.

    • On the Home Page, in the upper right hand corner, click on the gray bubble with your first initial in it

  • When can I have a tour of the campus?
