NJ TRANSIT has expanded its Student Pass fare option to include eligible part-time students. In addition to full-time students, part-time degree seeking students taking at least two courses will also be eligible for the Student Pass fare.

Eligible students may purchase a rail, bus, or light rail mobile student monthly pass at 25% off the regular monthly pass price, when enrolled online in the Student Pass program.

How to Sign Up

  1. Log in to the MyFIT Student Category
  2. Look for "New Jersey Transit Discount Program" card or search for NJ Transit to find the registration page.
  3. Follow the steps on screen to complete the registration and verify your student email address 
  4. Download the NJ TRANSIT Mobile App and enter your Student Pass login information.

Important:  'Student Pass' will display as a ticket choice in the NJ TRANSIT Mobile App each month when passes are available. Purchase of your monthly Student Pass is available beginning at 5 pm on the 19th of the previous month, through the 10th day of the month in which the pass is valid. Example: for a January pass, purchase at 5 pm December 19–January 10.

Existing Mobile Student Monthly Users

If you are an existing Mobile Student Monthly customer, you need to reactivate your account at the start of each semester.

  1. Login to MyFIT to reactivate your account.
  2. Login to  NJ TRANSIT Mobile App with your Student Pass login information.
  3. Verify your full-time status and student email address
  4. Buy your Mobile Student Monthly Pass

IMPORTANT: Students who participate in this program agree that the monthly pass is for their exclusive use only. Each student is eligible to receive one discounted monthly pass per month. Passes are non-transferable. Any abuse or purposeful deception will result in the cancellation of the student's monthly pass account, and (s)he will be unable to participate in the program in the future. This will also apply to any other student who is knowingly involved.
