Institutional Research and Effectiveness
The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness (IR&E) supports institutional decision-making, strategic planning, budgeting, compliance, and external reporting at FIT with accurate and comprehensive research and analysis. The office promotes the use of data and information in ensuring overall effectiveness in fulfilling the institution’s mission and goals.
To carry out its mission, IR&E is responsible for these functions:
- Manage a data warehouse in a SAS environment connecting data across systems
- Coordinate data submissions (mandatory and voluntary) to various agencies including federal IPEDS reporting, state reporting (SUNY and NYSED), college guides, grant funders, and accrediting bodies
- Provide resources for the FIT community including the annual Fact Book
- Design and conduct applied research projects
- Fulfill ad-hoc data and customized research requests from internal areas including Enrollment Management, Budget and Finance, Human Resources, President’s Office, and Academic Affairs
- Coordinate institutional and SUNY-system student and employee surveys
- Analyze and communicate survey results
- Provide data and analysis to support grant proposals and grant reporting
- Provide leadership on data literacy and data governance campuswide
Reports on enrollment, student demographics, retention, graduation rates, degree and certificate awards, and more are available at Fact Book Data and Reports.
