In August 2024, President Joyce F. Brown announced that she will be stepping down, concluding nearly 27 years of visionary and transformational leadership at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
As we look toward the future, the FIT Board of Trustees has launched a national search to identify the next President who will guide the institution into its next chapter of excellence and impact.
This website will serve as the central hub for information about the presidential
search process—including updates, announcements, and opportunities for community engagement.
We invite all members of the FIT community to stay informed and involved as this important

Search Committee
The Presidential Search Committee is composed of 22 members, including representatives from FIT’s faculty, staff, students and alumni, the Board of Trustees, and the FIT Foundation Board. This diverse and dedicated group brings a wide range of perspectives and expertise to the process and is committed to guiding the search process with our search firm.
Search Firm
The FIT Board of Trustees has engaged the global leadership and advisory firm SpencerStuart, a highly regarded executive search firm that is deeply connected to FIT’s mission and vision for the future. SpencerStuart would partner most effectively with our Search Committee and our community to discover and consider the best talent, lead an equitable process, and ensure the continued success of FIT.
FIT President Position Specification
The FIT presidential position specification was developed with feedback received from a comprehensive survey sent to our internal and external constituencies as well as conversations with key stakeholders from across the campus. After discussion and deliberation, the search committee approved this official position specification that details key elements and qualities. These form the basis for the search in progress to identify and select the next visionary leader of FIT.
