Noncredit Registration
Noncredit courses are short, intensive seminars or workshops taught by an expert in the topic.
Noncredit courses take place year-round and each individual course has its own start and end dates. Registration deadlines can be found on the individual course listing pages. A mark of either "pass" or "fail" is awarded at the conclusion of the course.
Noncredit courses begin with a three-letter code (CEO, SUS, SXF, etc.) and may be purchased immediately through our store. There is no application fee. To register for a noncredit course:
- You must be 18 years of age or older.

Credit Registration
Nondegree credit courses are officially registered with the State University of New York, administered by an academic school and department, and taught by FIT faculty.
Nondegree credit courses take place during the fall, spring, winter, and summer terms. Registration dates take place before each term and are noted on the Academic Calendar. Expect to complete graded assignments and tests as part of your credit course.
Credit courses begin with a two-letter code (HA, GD, EN, etc.) and require an application process and a $65 nonrefundable processing fee. To register for a credit course:
- If you plan to take an undergraduate level course, you must have a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- If you plan to take an a graduate level course, you must have a bachelor's or its equivalent.
- You must be legally able to take a credit course in the U.S. (i.e. not on a tourist visa). Learn more about status and visas to study at FIT
