Types of Programs

FIT in Italy

FIT offers two residential programs in Italy: one in Florence and one in Milan, specifically for Fashion Business Management and Fashion Design students. Student's pay FIT tuition and fees, plus a program fee and field trip fee.

The FIT in Italy programs are hosted by Italian institutions, but students will take FIT courses that align with their degree requirements.

Semester Abroad

There are two types of semester programs: Exchanges and Semester Study Abroad. Both are typically one semester. You'll enjoy a deep cultural immersion, though these programs may require more independence. Courses taken at a partner institution will return as transfer credit, applying towards degree requirements, but not affecting a student's GPA.

EXCHANGE PROGRAMS

Exchange programs allow students to study abroad with partner institutions worldwide. These programs follow a 1:1 ratio, meaning for every participating FIT student per semester, an international student will study at FIT. Due to this ratio, exchange spots can be competitive.

For in-state students, these programs are often the most affordable, since you pay FIT tuition and fees.

SEMESTER STUDY ABROAD

Semester Study Abroad Programs involve students spending one semester at a host institution abroad. These programs offer coursework in English and provide higher levels or support compared to exchange programs. Unlike exchange programs, semester study abroad programs do not have a fixed capacity and can vary widely in cost, length of study, and types of coursework offered.

Students pay the tuition and fees of the host institution, which can make these program types more affordable for out-of-state students.

Summer/Winter Courses

Summer and winter courses are immersive short-term study abroad programs offered during the summer or winter sessions. Students enroll in a single FIT course abroad, which is taught by FIT faculty. Alongside a program differential, students pay FIT tuition and fees per credit hour.
