Congratulations on your admission to one of New York City's premier public institutions. As an FIT student, you are joining an internationally recognized academic community renowned for excellence in design, fashion, art, communications and business. We are eagerly waiting to welcome you and your family to our community. We know that you are excited and filled with questions, wanting to know everything there is about FIT.
New Student Orientation is designed to prepare you for academic, professional, and personal success. Our goal is to help you make a smooth transition to FIT through a week of fun, engaging, and dynamic programs. Next Up
Fall 2024 New Student Orientation
Fall New Student Orientation will take place in two required sections: Part One: Pre-Orientation - is a virtual module to be completed at your own pace; Part Two: Orientation Week at FIT - is an in-person orientation guided by Orientation Leaders and is separated by academic school.
- Students in the School of Art and Design and School of Liberal Arts and Sciences will be required to attend on Tuesday, August 20 through Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
- Jay and Patty Baker School of Business and Technology students will be required to attend orientation on Wednesday, August 21 through Thursday, August 22, 2024.
Please note if you are a student in any of the following areas you will be required to attend a pre-orientation session in person on Monday, August 19, 2024.
- Presidential Scholars Program
- Educational Opportunity Program
- Social Justice Scholars Program
- Veterans and/or Military Beneficiaries
If you are an F1 or J1 Visa International Student you will be required to attend additional orientation sessions on Friday, August 23, 2024. A more detailed schedule of activities will be shared later this summer. Below is a snapshot of what to expect:
Pre-Orientation | Online Module (Launches Thursday, August 1, 2024)
These virtual modules are designed to provide you with essential information and resources
before you arrive on campus and can be completed at your convenience. You can anticipate
covering resources such as Information Technology, Financial Aid Services, Dining
Services, and more! Please be sure to finish all the Pre-Orientation modules before
your first day of in-person orientation. Instructions on how to access modules will
be provided to your FIT email address.
Orientation Week at FIT | In-Person
Orientation Week at FIT is designed to introduce you to the people and experiences
who will make your time at FIT a success both personally and professionally. Each
new student will be assigned an Orientation Group and two current FIT students serving
as Orientation Leaders. Orientation Leaders will lead your assigned group from session
to session and serve as a peer resource.
Over the course of the three-days new students will meet fellow incoming students, members of the College administration, be provided an in-depth look at academics and academic success, and much more!

Interested in being a part of the First Year Student Experience transition program “Find Your FIT” for extended onboarding support? "Find your FIT" is Stitch's guide to being successful throughout your entire first year! This program will go beyond introductions provided at orientation and will further connect students to the various programs, events, peers and resources that FIT offers.
