Orientation Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
You can access the Orientation Schedule (PDF) online here. A printed copy will also be given to you at Orientation check-in.
Orientation is mandatory for all new students; if you have a conflict be sure to attend as many sessions as you can as Orientation is designed to facilitate your transition to FIT smoothly and there will be no makeup options.
Your Orientation Group assignment was shared to your FIT email account. Search for subject line: Group Assignment & Schedule. The sender is [email protected]. Location information for your group meet-ups is accessible here.
Lunch during Orientation is FREE and you do not need to use your meal plan. You can use your meal plan during all other times of the day.
Orientation check-in will be located in the Morris W. and Fannie B. Haft Theater Lobby. Please enter Feldman Center through the 27th Street entrance. Doors are located directly to the left of the blue archway. Check-in begins at 9:30am on Thursday, January 23rd.
ID Photo Participants:
If you submitted your photo prior to Orientation using the ID Photo program:
- Commuter students: You can pick up your premade FIT ID Card at Orientation Check-In on Thursday, January 23 beginning at 9:30 a.m.
- Residential students: You will receive your FIT ID Card upon move-in. If you do not receive it, please contact Residential Life. Your ID will not be at check-in and you do not need to get another printed.
If you still need your photo taken:
For students who still need to take an ID photo, you will have the opportunity to
take one during Orientation as follows:
- Wednesday, January 22 | AX39, Auxiliary Gym
8 am - 6 pm - Thursday, January 23 | AX39, Auxiliary Gym
8 - 9:45 am
12 - 1:30 pm
4 - 6 pm - Monday, January 27 - Friday, January 31 | 236 West 27th Street, 1st floor
There is NO need to miss any Orientation program as your class schedule or physical orientation schedule will grant you temporary access to non-residential campus buildings.
- Go to MyFIT
- Log in with your FIT username (everything before the @ symbol) and password
- In the first row, look for “FIT Web Resources”
- Under “FIT Web Resources” select Brightspace. The 4th hyperlink in the list.
- Brightspace will open in a separate tab
- Once live, under “My Courses”, select Spring New Student Pre-Orientation Module
- Work through each topic under the “Table of Contents” until all completed

No, your parent/guardian/friend cannot attend Orientation. The Orientation program sessions are only for the new student.
There will be a Families in Transition Program on Wednesday, January 22nd at noon held virtually.
